Bank Background Metropolitan National Bank opened in 1970 to serve customers in southwest Little Rock and since that time has experienced tremendous growth. In 1983, Doyle Rogers, a developer known for landmarks such as the Excelsior Hotel, now the Peabody Hotel, and the Statehouse Convention Center, became Chairman and principal owner of the bank. In January 1985, Lunsford W. Bridges joined the bank as President and Chief Executive Officer. Bridges continues in that position today. Arkansas owned and operated, Metropolitan offers an extensive line of consumer and commercial products, while maintaining the quality personal service it’s known for across the area. Metropolitan serves its customers from 44 branches and 67 ATMs throughout Little Rock, North Little Rock, Benton, Bentonville, Bryant, Cabot, Conway, Farmington, Fayetteville, Jacksonville, Lowell, Maumelle, Pea Ridge, Rogers, Sherwood and Springdale. In 2005, Metropolitan expanded operations into northwest Arkansas, with a mortgage office and full-service banking location. The plan for an aggressive branch expansion in both Washington and Benton counties was also announced. In addition to the northwest Arkansas offices, Metropolitan opened six branches in central Arkansas, including locations in Conway and Cabot. While always striving to be the most nearby and neighborly bank in Arkansas, Metropolitan manages more $1.6 billion in assets and $848 million in loans. In addition, Metropolitan National Bank is honored to be the #1 SBA lender in Arkansas with more than $18 million in loans.
